How to Co-Author Documents with Office 365
With the co-authoring features of M-Files, several users can edit a document at the same time. You can check out a document for co-authoring when the Microsoft Office for the web tools and co-authoring have been enabled for your vault.
Opening a document in co-authoring mode
To open a document in the co-authoring mode, right-click it and select Check Out for Co-authoring.
The document opens in your browser in the Office for the web application.
The document shows as Checked out for the user who started the co-authoring.
Participating in co-authoring
To take part in co-authoring a document, you can double-click the document that has been opened in the co-authoring mode to join the co-authoring.
The Checked-out icon for the document is different for the participant.
The participants can see the changes made to the document in real-time.
Ending the co-authoring
To end the co-authoring, the participant can just close the browser tab.
The person who checked-out the document for co-authoring has to end the co-authoring session and check the document back in to have the changes saved to the vault. The person can also undo the check-out, but this will discard all the changes made to the document.
A new document version is created as soon as the user who started the session checks the document back into the vault.
